Dec 05, 2017 Word 2011 is freezing since update to High Sierra 10.13.1. I would like to explain that Office for Mac 2011. I am an unpaid volunteer and do not work for. The latest Office for Mac 2011 from April, version 14.7.3, was examined, and was found to be in a worse state following the High Sierra update. Crashing was even more frequent than in the Office. Microsoft says it hasn’t tested Office 2011 for Mac on High Sierra and no support will be provided. They point out that support for Office 2011 ends in a few months, on 10 October 2017. On the other hand, it’s hard to believe that the Office for Mac team hasn’t devoted some effort to testing Office 2011 on the upcoming macOS.
As of September 25, 2017, macOS 10.13 High Sierra is publicly available for all Mac users to install. Office 2016 for Mac is fully supported on High Sierra. Office for Mac 2011Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Lync have not been tested on macOS 10.13 High Sierra, and no formal support for this configuration will be provided. Since October 10, 2017, Office for Mac 2011* is no longer supported. Microsoft shared an Office 2019 for Mac preview last month. Now the company has announced that all the updates that come with the new software will be heading to Office 365 subscribers as long as they are running macOS Sierra or later.
Detailed in a blog post, Microsoft said that to receive the latest features that come along with Office 365/Office 2019 for Mac next month, users will need to be running at least macOS Sierra 10.12.
As of the Office 365 for Mac September 2018 update, macOS 10.12 or later is required to update to the new version of the Office client apps for Mac and receive new feature updates.
The updates are scheduled to release next month for Office 365 subscribers. Microsoft has yet to announce when it will release Office 2019 for Mac other than in the “second half of 2018.”
New features coming to the latest Office revision include a new focus mode, morph transitions, new admin tools, and more. Microsoft says that users on macOS 10.11 or earlier will still be supported, but won’t gain the new updates. No word yet if a purchased copy of Office 2019 for Mac will be able to run on macOS versions prior to 10.12.
